DOTC chief Mar Roxas inspects Batangas port as Undas pilgrims take RORO
Passenger volume at the Port of Batangas has more than doubled from the usual 5,000 to 6,000 passengers daily and prompted Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Sec. Mar Roxas to personally inspect the portâs facilities on Friday. Roxas went on board a roll-on, roll-off (RORO) ship to make sure that it had all the required papers and equipment. âSinisiguro natin na kung ano âyung nakita natin, ano âyung status sa ngayon, na satisfactory, ay mananatili hindi lamang hanggang sa maghapon, pero hanggang bukas and all throughout nitong Operation Ligtas Undas," Roxas said. Travelers going through the Batangas port commute to and from the islands of Mindoro, Masbate, Romblon, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro. According to the report shown in GMA-7âs â24 Oras," around 10, 000 passengers have left Batangas Port by 3 p.m. Friday, and more are expected to come with the onset of the long weekend.
During the inspection, Roxas took note of the small price signage in the ticket booths and also ordered for more portalets in the area. â RAJMD/ELR, GMA News
