Food poisoning downs 32 people in Palawan


At least 32 people were downed by food poisoning after eating suman (rice cake) in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday. In its 8 a.m. report, the NDRRMC indicated many of the 32 included employees of the Palawan Provincial Capitol in Puerto Princesa City. "Employees of the Palawan Provincial Capitol complained of nausea, dizziness, vomiting and abdominal pain after eating suman sold in the Capitol; 32 persons were affected due to the incident," it said. The Office of Civil Defense is coordinating with provincial health officials to investigate the incident, and sent food samples to the Food and Drug Administration for analysis. Health officials in the province also interviewed the victims and visited the suman vendor and inspected the working area. — LBG, GMA News
