Police: 4 killed in SUV-bus collision in Quezon province

At least four people were killed in a head-on collision between a sport-utility vehicle and a roll-on roll-off bus in Quezon province Wednesday night, police said Thursday. Tagkawayan town police head Chief Inspector William Angway Jr. said the incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on Quirino Highway. "Nag-overtake ang Ford Everest, (may) parating na RORO bus kaya nagkaroon ng head-on collision. Ang sakay na apat sa SUV ay patay lahat," Angway said in an interview on dzBB radio. He did not immediately identify the fatalities but said three of them were aged 37, 21, and 15. He said the fourth fatality was a female. Many of the passengers aboard the RORO bus were taken to a hospital where they were treated for minor injuries, he added. Citing initial reports reaching him, Angway said the SUV was heading for Metro Manila while the bus was heading for Bicol. "Talagang naipit ang kalahati ng SUV, ipit sa ilalim ng bus (Half of the SUV was crushed under the bus)," he said. Angway said the incident occurred in an accident-prone curve along the highway. He said the debris from Wednesday night's accident had been cleared as of Thursday morning. — LBG, GMA News
