10 cargo ship crew rescued off Masbate

At least 10 fishermen aboard a cargo motorboat were rescued after their vessel capsized off Masbate before dawn Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.

 

In its report, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 3 a.m., when the motorboat "Precious Nicole" encountered engine trouble and capsized off Cagmasoso village in Mandaon, Masbate.

 

The ship was sailing toward Roxas City in Capiz at the time, the NDRRMC said.

 

Coast Guard and police personnel from Balud in Masbate rescued the fishermen, it added.

 

No one was reported injured in the incident, according to the NDRRMC.

 

An earlier report on dzBB radio late Thursday said the fishermen were on their way to Roxas City in Capiz province from Masbate to deliver fish. –KG, GMA News
