NDRRMC: 2 Sayyaf bandits killed in Zambo clash


Two members of the Abu Sayyaf group were killed while a kidnap victim was rescued in an encounter between the bandits and government forces in Zamboanga City Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday. In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the encounter occurred at 10 a.m. Friday in Sitio Dulilan in Barangay Calabasa in Curuan. Killed in the 20-minute firefight were Termije Ajijul and Sitti Raja Salvin. Wounded were Abu Sayyaf member Khair Mundos and one PO3 Ruiz of the Philippine National Police's 84th SAC. The NDRRMC said Mundos and Ajijul Temeng headed the Abu Sayyaf group that figured in the encounter. It added the government forces in Friday's encounter included members of the 5th Special Action Battalion (SAB), Special Action Force (SAF), Navy Special Warfare Group (SWAG), Zamboanga  City Public Safety Company Light Reaction Unit (ZCPSC-LRU) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Regional Public Safety Battalion 9, Regional Intelligence Division Unit 9, and Philippine Center on Transnational Crime 9. — LBG, GMA News
