CCTV footage of CDO blast sent to PNP headquarters for analysis

Closed-circuit television footage that can help identify the perpetrators of a blast that killed at least two people in Cagayan de Oro last Thursday have been sent to Philippine National Police headquarters for analysis. Police expect the footage to be analyzed and enhanced if possible, to get a clearer picture of the suspects, according to a report on Balitanghali. Earlier, city police chief Senior Superintendent Gerardo Rosales said two civilians were killed in the incident and two policemen were injured. Rosales said they are still trying to find leads on who left the improvised explosive device (IED) near a hotel in the city. An initial investigation showed the incident occurred at 2 a.m., when the two policemen were verifying a tip that men were acting suspiciously near the hotel. When the two policemen saw a small can, they summoned the bomb squad and tried to move away, but the can exploded and they were hit by shrapnel. Rosales said the IED used concrete nails as shrapnel. On Saturday, Balitanghali reported a conference was held, with the city police's station commanders in attendance. The station commanders were reminded to maintain tight security in the city, the report said. — LBG, GMA News
