Cops seize arms cache in Cavite house

Police seized on Friday an arms cache after searching a resident's house in General Mariano Alvarez town in Cavite province.

The police found several firearms, including 12-gauge shotguns, while serving a search warrant on the house of Barangay San Jose resident Mark Aura, radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported.

Aura's house yielded 14 cal-.38 revolvers, four 12-gauge shotguns, a cal-.45 pistol, and airsoft gun replicas, the report said.

Cavite provincial police spokesman Superintendent Romeo Desiderio was also quoted in the report as saying the police also found magazines for a cal-.45 pistol.

Desiderio said Aura was brought to the Cavite provincial police office for investigation.

The search came nearly a week after the start of the election period, which entails a gun ban. The gun ban lasts until June 12.

Under the gun ban, only law enforcers in uniform and on duty can carry firearms outside their residences.

As a general rule, permits to carry firearms outside residence are suspended during the election period, which ends June 12.  — ELR, GMA News
