PAGASA: Amihan affecting extreme northern Luzon

It may be weakening and giving way to the hot summer, but the northeast monsoon or amihan is making itself felt over parts of the country, state weather forecasters said Saturday.

PAGASA said the northeast moonson is particularly affecting extreme Northern Luzon, even as other parts of the country may have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

"Batanes group of islands will be cloudy with light rains while Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.

However, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country "will experience generally good weather."

Earlier, PAGASA forecasters said the northeast monsoon is weakening and may soon give way to the hot summer months.

PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, it said.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.  — ELR, GMA News
