Bacolod diocese sets anti-RH rally on April 27

Catholic Church officials in Bacolod City have set a grand rally against the Reproductive Health Law for this Saturday. According to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines, the rally will be held at the Bacolod Public Plaza from 1 to 6 p.m. “The Church has been actively involved in raising the faithful’s awareness as regard the issue, both fervently praying and passionately educating, selflessly guiding the people in the right moral path that we should take as a nation,” Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra said in a circular, excerpts of which were posted on the CBCP news site. “Let it be known that in speaking the truth, our Church became the target of the ire of some people. Every day we receive unimaginable threats, repulsive hate calls and spiteful insults, but we shall not falter in our true and certain faith-conviction,” he added. Navarra called on the faithful, priests, vicars, chaplains, and rectors as well as superiors of seminaries, and heads of schools and law associations to join the rally. He said the Bacolod Diocese had been "consistent in its defense of the sanctity of human life in the face of the evil of Reproductive Health policy that some of our government leaders have been staunchly advocating.” The Bacolod diocese earlier this year mounted tarpaulins on local churches urging people to vote for senatorial bets who it labeled "Team Buhay" for voting against the passage of the RH Law, and rejecting those who it labeled "Team Patay" for voting for the law's passage. Participants at Saturday's protest are to march to the Bacolod Public Plaza from four points: - Capitol Lagoon for Northern Vicariates/Parishes - Sto. Niño Parish for Northeastern Vicariates/Parishes - Lupit Church for Southern Vicariates/Parishes - Holy Family Parish, City Heights, for Southeastern Vicariates/Parishes — DVM, GMA News
