Ayong Maliksi concedes to Jonvic Remulla in Cavite gubernatorial race

Cavite Rep. Erineo “Ayong” Maliksi has conceded defeat to re-electionist Governor Jonvic Remulla in the gubernatorial race of Cavite province, a television report said Tuesday night. In a report on GMA’s “24 Oras,” reporter Mariz Umali said Maliksi texted her acknowledging his defeat to Remulla. Maliksi has served as Cavite governor for three terms before Remulla was elected to the position in 2010. Based on GMA’s Eleksyon 2013 unofficial vote tally as of Tuesday evening, Remulla of Lakas-Magdalo party has 402,889 votes while Maliksi of Liberal Party has 352,538. “He (Maliksi) has never done this before," Remulla said in the report. "It is very magnanimous of him to concede. I really appreciate it.” The report added that the provincial canvassers have suspended its session for the day and will resume on Wednesday. Umali reported that municipalities of Alfonso, Rosario, Tanza and GMA (General Mariano Alvarez) have yet to transmit their certificates of canvass due to defective compact flash cards used in the vote-counting machines. — Rouchelle Dinglasan/KBK, GMA News
