Red Cross: 158 people evacuated due to flash flood in Zamboanga City

At least 158 people were evacuated from their homes in Zamboanga City on Thursday after a flash flood hit the area, the Philippine Red Cross said on Friday.

In posts on its Twitter account, the Red Cross said the flash flood was due to continuous rain in the mountainous areas.

About 38 families or 158 people were affected, it said.

It added that the affected families were brought to a health center and barangay hall but went home after an hour.

No casualty was reported even as the weather had improved on Friday, the Red Cross said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council earlier said at least eight people had been killed since late July due to rain caused by low pressure areas. - VVP, GMA News
