SBMA: Some Subic residents stranded on rooftops due to floods

(Updated 11:05 a.m.) Several residents in the Subic area in Zambales were stranded on the roofs of their houses Monday due to floods brought by heavy rain there.

In a radio interview, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority public affairs manager Armie Llamas said the SBMA has declared administrative leave for the day.

"May (mga) empleyado na nasa bubungan ng bahay," she said in an interview on dzBB radio.

Llamas said the SBMA has also launched rescue operations for those affected by the floods.

Citing reports reaching the SBMA, Llamas said the floods in some areas in Subic reached the second floor of houses.

Floods were waist-deep in some areas and neck-deep in others, she added.

Meanwhile, in a phone interview with GMA News Online, Subic municipal secretary Dick Otero said barangays where flood reached the second floor of their homes include Santo Tomas, Naugsol, San Isidro.

He added that the local government is currently evacuating residents.
