5 killed in Baguio City massacre – police

Five people, three of them children, were brutally stabbed dead in an apartment in Baguio City on Sunday afternoon, police said Monday.

Police said the crime occurred between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the fourth floor of the Chan Building at 3rd Kayang Street in Kayang Hilltop.

The victims were identified in a police report as:

  • Jackelyn Kale Marquez Nociete, 19, student, 18 stab wounds
  • Joey Marquez Nociete Jr., 9, 14 stab wounds
  • Dave John de Guzman, eight stab wounds
  • Raymond Del Mundo, 8, five stab wounds
  • household helper Jonalyn Lozano, 12 stab wounds

An initial investigation showed the attackers, who have yet to be identified, entered the room and stabbed the victims several times for no apparent reason.

Investigators quoted Vilma Nociete, mother of Jacquelyn Kale and Joey Jr., as saying that she received messages from her daughter since 5 p.m. Sunday that a visitor was looking for their father.

When she returned to their rented unit, she found the victims' bloodied bodies. She then sought help in rushing the victims to a hospital, but it was too late for doctors to save them. — with Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
