Pink Mosque is Maguindanao's newest landmark

A pink mosque is the latest attraction in the province of Maguindanao.

The mosque, called Masjid Dimaukom, was unveiled before the start of Ramadan on Sunday, and has gained admiration from Muslims and netizens.

According to Datu Saudi Ampatuan Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom, who paid for the building of the mosque on family property in the town, he and his wife chose to paint the mosque pink as the color symbolizes peace and love.

Dimaukom, likewise, revealed that pink was his favorite color. In fact, pink was the color of Datu Saudi's municipal hall and other government structures.

"Ni-research namin 'yan kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng pink, [it means] peaceful, pagmamahal, iba-iba naman 'yan, pwedeng pagmamahal kay Allah, pagmamahal sa taumbayan, at pagmamahal sa bayan," he said in an earlier report.

Filipino Muslims flocked to the pink mosque on Saturday just before the start of month-long fasting. Some faithful, who could not be accommodated inside the worship area, opted to pray outside instead.

Masjid Dimaukom is not the only pink mosque in the world - Malaysia has Masjid Putra, while Iran has Nasir al-Mulk mosque.

Netizens also praised the appealing, hot pink mosque, which is located in the municipality of Datu Saudi Ampatuan in Maguindanao.
