Quezon, Cavite suspend classes in all levels on Tuesday due to Henry

Classes in all levels in Quezon province will be suspended on Tuesday due to expected bad weather conditions from Typhoon Henry (Matmo).

Quezon governor David Suarez said this was a precaution to the "heavy to torrential" rain forecast by state weather agency PAGASA for Tuesday.

"This is a precaution to the forecasted heavy to torrential rains this coming Tuesday-Wednesday brought about by Typhoon Henry," the provincial government said on its Facebook page.

On Monday evening, Cavite Governor Juanito Victor (Jonvic) Remulla also suspended classes in all levels in the entire province Tuesday due to "risk of severe flooding" and high tide.

"Classes in all levels in the entire province of Cavite are suspended tomorrow, July 22. There are areas at risk of severe flooding. High tide is at 4 a.m. Please be prepared," he said.

Earlier, Laguna also suspended classes in all levels for Tuesday, in anticipation of heavy rain from the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, the provincial government of Quezon called for donations to help residents recover from Typhoon Glenda (Rammasun).

"We are a large province, so we need all the food donations we can get," it said.

Donations can be dropped off at the governor's office at the Capitol compound in Lucena City. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
