Murder raps poised vs. Pangasinan cop in high school shooting spree

Police in Pangasinan are preparing murder charges against a colleague over Monday's shooting spree in a public school that left four people dead and three wounded.

 

The police also condemned the acts of the suspect identified as PO3 Domino Alipio, GMA Dagupan's CJ Torida reported Tuesday.

 

Alipio went on a shot and killed three teachers and a collector inside the Pangasinan National High School on Monday. He also wounded three more before he was subdued and arrested.

 

He is now facing administrative sanctions aside from possible criminal charges including four counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

 

Investigation showed Alipio and driver Oliver Ganigan went to the school Monday to collect debt payments from teachers. He went on a shooting spree when he failed to collect the money.

 

Alipio also shot it out with police teams that responded to the incident. He and Ganigan were arrested. Recovered from them were a Caliber .45 pistol, a carbine a grenade, and ammunition.

 

The report said at least 39 people were on a list of teachers and school personnel that Alipio gave to the school principal. The 39 supposedly owed him money.

 

On the other hand, the teachers reportedly received threats from Alipio if they failed to settle their accounts.

 

Relatives of Jonalito Urayan, the collector who was killed in Monday's incident, are calling for justice, adding Urayan and Alipio treated each other like brothers.

 

"Hustisya para sa kapatid ko," said Urayan's sister Jema.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education division office held a dialogue with police, where it sought added security for its office and the Pangasinan National High School.

 

In Manila, the DepEd issued a statement extending its sincere condolences to families who lost their loved ones following Monday's shooting.

 

"We are one with them in this time of bereavement and are deeply saddened as we count, among those killed, our very own teachers and members of the DepEd family," it said.

 

It also condemned all forms of violence especially in schools.

 

"While classes at PNHS remain suspended today, our field offices are working closely together with other agencies and offices in dealing with the situation. We commit to foster a sense of normalcy by providing the necessary psychological interventions to the community of PNHS. We enjoin local authorities to persevere in ensuring that justice prevails," it said. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
