Transgender woman found dead in Olongapo; foreign companion a suspect

A transgender woman was found dead in a lodge in Olongapo City over the weekend, a television report said on Sunday.

The 26-year-old checked into the lodge around 11 p.m. with a foreign companion on Saturday, GMA's "24 Oras" reported.

Some 30 minutes later, the foreigner left the room with the door open. A cleaner, upon entering the room, found the lifeless victim in the bathroom, her face in the toilet bowl.

Initial police investigation showed that the two had visited a disco bar in the city before heading to the lodge, the report said.

The police is considering the foreign companion as a suspect in the victim's death. He remains unidentified, but he was described as having a Marine haircut.

An autopsy has been performed to determine the victim's cause of death. Olongapo police have also speculated on the motive for the killing.

"'Yung personality niya… totally isa siyang babae. Then, na-find out na isa pala siyang gay. 'Yun ang isa sa aming tinitingnan na anggulo," said Police Chief Inspector Gil Domingo, Olongapo Station 3 Commander.

GMA's Jam Sisante reported that foreigners were present during the investigation of the crime scene on Sunday morning, and that a vehicle with diplomatic plates was seen outside the funeral parlor. However, Scene of the Crime Operatives declined to comment on the matter when questioned by GMA. — Rouchelle R. Dinglasan/BM, GMA News
