Floods hound 3 Central Luzon provinces days after typhoon

Floodwaters in some areas in three Central Luzon provinces continued to rise on Friday, even as skies became clear days after Typhoon Nona barreled through Lunzon.

Eight barangays in Calumpit Bulacan on Friday were hounded by floods from compounded runoff water coming from neighboring Nueva Ecija province.

A report by Jay Sabale in on "Unang Balita" said Barangay Meysulao was hit with chest-level floodwaters.

Calumpit Municipal Social Welfare Development Office recorded a total of 9,146 people affected by the rising floodwater from the mountains of Nueva Ecija.

In Tarlac province, GMA News' Athena Imperial reported that some barangays in La Paz town have been affected by waist-deep floods, especially Barangay San Roque.

Imperial told Unang Balita that the La Paz-Santa Rosa Road was still flooded as of Friday morning. The road connects Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.

Meanwhile, floodwaters in the town of Candaba in Pampanga also continued to rise amid improving weather condition.

GMA News' Jun Veneracion said 15 barangays were still flooded on Friday morning.

Farmers in Candaba claimed that 100 percent of their farmlands are flooded, Veneracion said.

Central Luzon is the catch basin of runoff water from Nueva Ecija.
