Typhoon Nona turns Pinamalayan town in Oriental Mindoro into wasteland

Pinamalayan town in Oriental Mindoro is one of the areas badly hit by Typhoon Nona,  which destroyed 15,000 houses or 83 percent of the total 18,000 homes demolished by the cyclone in the province.

Some 24,000 families or 108,000 people have remained in evacuation centers, even as damage to agriculture and infrastructure is pegged at P320,025,710.96.

Nona swept through Northern, Central Luzon, and parts of Visayas early this week and made its fifth landfall in Pinamalayan before it was downgraded into a tropical depression and finally dissipated on Thursday.
