Police kill another drug suspect in Laguna

Another suspected drug pusher was killed by policemen during a buy-bust operation in Majayjay, Laguna on Sunday night.

Police identified the slain suspect as Roy Ordoñez, 29, resident of Barangay Pooc, Majayjay.

The Majayjay Municipal Police Station said in its report that Ordoñez is number 10 on its list of drug suspects under Oplan Lambat-Sibat.

It said undercover policemen killed Ordoñez when it attempted to resist arrest during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malinao at around 11:30 p.m.

The report said that when the police poseur-buyer announced the arrest, the suspect pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot.

It said that another policemen shot the suspect "to prevent the suspect [from firing] his handgun..."

Police seized a small plastic sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect during the operation.

Ordoñez was the fourth drug suspect reported killed in the police's operations in Laguna over the weekend.

Two drug suspects were shot dead by policemen in another buy-bust operation in Biñan town and another suspect was killed in Cabuyao City on Saturday night.

Last week, the Philippine National Police said that the number of drug suspects killed in operation since the May 9 elections has increased by 200 percent.

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte had said that he will offer cash rewards for the neutralization of drug lords. —ALG, GMA News
