American fugitive arrested in Subic

A fugitive wanted in the US was nabbed by authorities in Subic, Zambales, a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday said.

He was identified as Yoshikoson Umeko Haddon, an American citizen, who is facing charges of capital murder, killing-for-hire and solicitation of adult to commit felony in Virginia.

According to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, a US district court in Virginia issued a warrant for Haddon’s arrest in September last year.

The Bureau of Immigration said Haddon used his business, a gym and recreational center, as front in hiding.

Haddon denied he is facing charges in the US. He said he has no knowledge of them.

Morente said he ordered Haddon’s arrest after being informed by the US Embassy that Haddon's passport was already revoked by the US State Department, thus making him an undocumented alien.

"US authorities have described him as a dangerous felon, thus his continued presence here poses a serious threat to public safety,” the BI chief said in a statement.

The BI said Haddon, who is currently detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, will be placed on the immigration blacklist after he is deported to prevent him from returning to the Philippines. —Virgil Lopez/KG, GMA News
