Soldier killed, 11 hurt in NPA attack in Bukidnon

Members of the New People's Army (NPA) killed a soldier and wounded 11 others in an attack in Bukidnon, late Saturday.

Police said 25 soldiers and militiamen where on board a military truck when the rebels attacked them in Barangay Kitubo, Kitaotao town at around 10:30 p.m.

The military truck was initially hit by an improvised explosive device, a police report said.

After the explosion, police said an undetermined number of rebels fired at the soldiers.

Pursuit operations have been launched against the rebels who retreated after a 10-minute firefight. —ALG, GMA News
