Cellphone video shows Ozamiz vice mayor tried to hide an item during raid

A cellphone video obtained by GMA News showed Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez trying to hide something during the raid conducted Sunday at the family home.

According to a report on News To Go on Monday, the video showed Echavez suddenly getting something from her bag while the police were conducting an inspection in her room.

She held the item in her hand.

However, police insisted on looking at the item and they had to pry open her hands to get the item.

A packet with something white inside was seen in her hand.

The cops immediately put handcuffs on her.

Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog (the vice mayor's father) and 14 others were killed in that predawn drug raid on Sunday.

Also killed in the clash were the mayor's wife, Susan, and his brother, Provincial Board Member Octavio Parojinog.

The police authorities had six warrants to search the houses of Mayor Parojinog, Parojinog-Echavez, Board Member Parojinog, City Councilor Ricardo Parojinog, and one other for loose firearms.

Misamis Occidental PPO chief Senior Superintendent Jaysen de Guzman said that the police officers were met by a volley of gunfire as they were about to enter the Parojinogs' compound at around 2:30 a.m.

The Ozamiz City police director said they recovered more than one kilogram of shabu from the houses of Mayor Parojinog and Parojinog-Echavez as they were served simultaneous warrants for illegal firearms and ammunition.

Parojinog-Echavez however accused the police of planting the drugs and firearms. —KG/KVD, GMA News
