7 Basilan farmers abducted by Abu Sayyaf found beheaded


 

Seven farmers believed to be abducted by the Abu Sayyaf group were found decapitated in Basilan, a report on Balita Pilipinas said Monday.

The report said the seven were abducted in Maluso on July 23.

Three bodies were the first to be recovered, one of them identified as the father of a local TV reporter. Before that, on Saturday, four bodies were discovered, two of them in the boundary of Isabela City and Lantawan town.

The Abu Sayyaf, a small band of Islamic fundamentalists, is notorious for carrying out bombings and abductions, including of foreigners.

The group is known ot operate in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. —Margaret Claire Tayug/KBK, GMA News
