Ex-bf of slain mayor Rolando Espinosa’s daughter killed in police raid

A suspected hitman of slain Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa was killed in Davao City Wednesday morning, after allegedly resisting arrest by joint operatives of the Eastern Visayas and Davao regional police units and the Toril PNP.

According to a report by GMA Davao's Real Soroche on "24 Oras," Jake Bolanio Dela Cruz used to be romantically involved with Espinosa's daughter.

Pronounced dead on the spot, Dela Cruz was seen blood-splattered on the floor of his home in Upper Piedad, Bato Village, Toril District, Davao City.

Dela Cruz reportedly took out a Uzi machine pistol and fired at authorities serving him an arrest warrant. Dela Cruz was killed in the shootout that commenced.

Police then seized Dela Cruz's firearm along with cash and several ID cards from the crime scene.

Dela Cruz was also being arrested for violating R.A. 8294 or the law governing Illegal Possession of Firearm and his involvement in other unspecified drug-related crimes. — Margaret Claire Layug/NB/BM, GMA News
