Radio DJ shot dead in Cebu home

A disc jockey at a Cebu FM radio station was shot dead in her house in Cebu City on Thursday.

The body of Marie Alexi “Maxi” Bolongaita was found inside her home in Nivel Hills, Barangay Busay, according to a report aired on GMA 7 news program "24 Oras" on Friday.

A homicide inspector said Bolongaita's wounds suggested she put up a fight before she died.

"Dapat daw i-autopsy because parang by force ang nangyari," Senior Police Officer 3 Rommel Bancog said.

Police recovered a .22 pistol and a 46-inch axe from the crime scene.

"Merong armas pero subject for kung kanino mang armas 'yung nakita sa kama. 'Yung sugat niya malaki," said the victim's father, DYRF-Cebu broadcaster Alex Bolongaita.

An autopsy has yet to be performed on the 29-year-old, as of the report.

Meanwhile, a witness identified the alleged killier as 36-year-old Renante Comendador Mambiar.

The witness saw Mambiar climb out of the back portion of Bolongaita's house.

"Sabi niya, babarilin niya ako kapag sumunod daw ako kaya hindi na ako sumunod. Hindi ko alam na may nangyari na palang krimen doon," the witness said adding "Kinabukasan, pagtingin ko maraming nakakalat na dugo."

Cebu City chief of police Senior Superintendent Joel Doria said the suspect had just sprung free from Cebu City Jail and had a long history of theft.

After a further investigation, police found that Mambiar had allegedly robbed Bolongaita. The suspect left a backpack at his relative's house containing the victim's belongings.

The suspect reportedly came to his aunt for help with injuries he sustained from the incident, and was later brought to the hospital.

"Sabi niya, 'binaril ko, tita. Ihatid niyo ako sa ospital.' 'Yun lang. Wala naman siyang sinabi kung anong nangyari sa kanya," Mambiar said. — Margaret Claire Layug/DVM, GMA News
