Cop shot dead by gunmen on motorcycle in San Mateo, Rizal

A policeman was pronounced dead on the spot after he was shot by unidentified gunmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle in San Mateo, Rizal.

According to an exclusive report on Unang Balita by Cesar Apolinario on Tuesday, the victim identified as Police Officer 3 Rufino Ramirez Jr. was riding his motorcycle on Thursday afternoon when he was ambushed by the gunmen near his home.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that one of the suspects was wearing a helmet while the other one wore a cap and had his face covered. The suspects were seen following Ramirez.

The shooting incident was not captured on CCTV but residents around the area were surprised to hear gunshots.

According to witnesses, the suspects fled toward Montalban, Rizal.

Recovered from the crime scene were bullet shells.

However, authorities have yet to identify the suspects and determine their motive.

Authorities failed to get the motorcycle's plate number used by the suspects.

Meanwhile, the family of Ramirez refused to be interviewed.
