Transport strike forces Davao City to suspend classes for Oct 16

Classes in Davao City from kindergarten to college will be suspended on October 16 in anticipation of a planned transport strike that will be held on the same day.

In a statement, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the local government “fully respects” the transport strike on Monday.

She also said the local government will deploy buses to assist passengers, in observance of their High Priority Bus system.

Duterte-Carpio reminded the public the government will not tolerate crimes committed during the strike and advised protesters to practice self-restraint.
