Employee steals CamSur LGU's P3.4-M cash


Police are hunting down an employee of the the municipal office of Tinambac, Camarines Sur for stealing P3.4 million cash of the local government's treasurer's office.

Police identified the suspect as Melchor Abrazado, a resident of Barangay Sogod, Tinambac town.

Investigators said that Abrazado and Tinambac local government treasurer-in-charge Ma. Teresa Hermogenio-Betito withdrew the money from the LandBank branch in Naga City around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Abrazado and Betito were also acconmpanied by two other local government employees.

AFter withdrawing a total of P3,426,340.55, Betito allegedly gave the cash to Abrazado.

The suspect then told Betito and the others that he will just leave the bank to call their driver.

Abrazado, however, did not return after an hour.

Betito and the others, after waiting for several more hours for Abrazado to return, reported the incident to the police at 3 p.m. —ALG, GMA News
