The 360 kilos of fish from blast fishing had an estimated market value of P36,000, according to coast guard authorities in Real town quoting members of the Municipal BFAR Council.

The joint team, together with Real's Municipal Agricultural Office, on Tuesday set out for a joint anti-illegal fishing operation off Barangay Ungos and Barangay Poblacion 61.

In an inspection on an abandoned motor banca “Kevin 2,” a passenger and/or cargo vessel, which was suspiciously left unattended on the shore of Barangay Poblacion 61, the team found a load of fish.

A fish examiner from BFAR identified and certified that the fish found in the cargo section was caught by means of blast fishing.

Said confiscated fish was later brought to the municipal BFAR office for proper disposition. —Peewee Bacuño/LBG, GMA News
