Kananga town in Leyte under state of calamity


The municipality of Kananga in Leyte has been placed under a state of calamity due to Tropical Depression Urduja.

The Kananga Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council approved Resolution No. 21 R. 17-296 on Sunday due to the massive flooding in the town, according to a flash report on Dobol B sa News TV.

The municipality of Carigara in Leyte, Ormoc City and Tacloban City had also been placed under a state of calamity.

Local government units declared in a state of calamity can impose a price freeze on all basic commodities in affected areas, and can ask for the quick release of funds for disaster response and relief efforts.
