17-year-old accuses Southern Leyte governor of rape

A 17-year-old girl accused Southern Leyte Governor Christopher Yap of raping her when he was still vice governor.

Yap also allegedly tried to rape her a second time in November last year.

According to Marisol Abdurahman's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, the victim claimed that her friends, who were Yap's supporters, had gotten her drunk and set her up with the politician.

Yap allegedly raped her inside a red SUV and threatened her afterwards.

"Pagkatapos niya akong halayin noong 16 years-old pa ako nu'n, binantaan niya ako. Sinabi niya sa akin na hindi ko raw ipagsasabi kasi alam ko daw na... ano 'yung kinatayuan niya," the teenager said.

The victim also said the governor attempted to rape her a second time inside the restroom of a gas station.

"Bibigay niya daw sa akin ang lahat. Lahat, lahat, basta 'wag daw ako mag-ingay. 'Di daw ako magsusumbong sa papa ko," the victim said.

On Monday,  Crusade Against Violence (CAV) founder Thelma Tiong accompanied the minor in filing rape and attempted rape charges against Yap.

Yap refused to face the camera when sought for comment as regards the allegations.

His mother, however, said, "Lahat gagawin ko just to prove na ang anak ko ay malinis, ha? Hindi nga tumatanggap ng SOP. Alam mo ba 'yon? Alam mo ba? Hindi tumatanggap ng pera ang anak ko." —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
