Suspect killed, another one arrested in Marawi anti-drug ops

A drug suspect was killed and another one was arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Marawi City on Saturday night.

Philippine National Police Lanao del Sur provincial director Police Senior Superintendent John Guyguyon said that drug suspect Ogie Hadjie Ditingki was killed shooting it out with lawmen in the city's Barangay Rorogagus.

When Ditingki learned that he was having drug transaction with police, he attempted to fire shots at them.

Authorities said Ditingki was one of the inmates who managed to escape when Maute terrorists laid siege to Marawi City last May.

He was facing charges for murder and drug trade, Guyguyon said.

Seized from Ditingki were .38 caliber hand gun and two sachets of suspected shabu.

His body was already claimed by his family for Islam burial rites.

Meanwhile, police arrested tricycle driver Kadid Dipatuan Mohammad, 22, for supposedly supplying illegal drugs inside the Mindanao State University (MSU) campus.

Two sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from Mohammad, who is now in the custody of the PNP-Marawi.  He will be facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. —Merlyn Manos with Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG, GMA News
