1 killed in Laguna shooting, kidnapping incidents; suspect nabbed

A man was killed in a shooting incident in the parking lot of Aviles Restaurant in Barangay Real, Calamba City in Laguna, the police said Saturday.

An initial report from the Calamba City Police Office said that the victim wore denim pants and a black sweater.

The victim was about to join his female companion waiting in a car when an armed attacker came and fired his gun, killing the victim on the spot, the police said.

After shooting the victim, the attacker commandeered the car with the woman inside. Hours later, the authorities reportedly rescued the woman and arrested the suspect in Alaminos, Laguna. 

The police said the suspect raped the woman in a grassland in Santo Tomas town in Batangas before driving to Alaminos.

The suspect was arrested and the woman was rescued after the commandeered car rammed a bus in Alaminos. 

The suspect shot the bus driver and held the woman hostage before he surrendered to authorities moments later.  —Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
