Cop held for supplying slain kidnapping suspects with guns, uniforms

A police officer has been placed under the  custody of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group for allegedly supplying guns, bullets and fatigue uniforms to the five kidnapping suspects who were recently killed in San Pablo, Laguna.

AKG Director Senior Superintendent Glenn Dumlao identified the cop as Senior Police Officer 2 Leo Leal Pamonag, who is assigned in Sta. Rosa Police Station.

“Itong uniform siya nakaisip, bala, baril siya nagbigay. And then siya kumukuha ng mga target [na] HVT (high value target),” Dumlao said.

“Nakakalungkot nga, pinagkanulo niya kapwa pulis niya, sinisira pa niya ang institution kung saan doon siya nabubuhay. Ang laki na ng sweldo niya, tapos may namatay pa na kapwa pulis,” he added.

The five kidnappers who were killed in an armed confrontation with the police force in San Pablo City, Laguna allegedly posed as agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.

The killed suspects were wearing fatigue uniforms when they kidnapped a certain Ronaldo Arguelles in his house at Cristina Village, Barangay Mangilag Sur, Candelaria, Quezon at about 6:15 p.m. on Monday.

The rescue operation of Arguelles was set at the agreed payoff area in Alaminos town in Laguna after the family of the victim called for police assistance.

Police said the kidnappers tried to escape by firing at the operatives. A chase ensued and ended up along Maharlika Highway in San Pablo City, where the five kidnappers were killed.

The suspects were identified as Juan Singabor (aka PO2 Rebadulla), Jairo Olegario (aka PO3 Dizon), Kent Lim, Marcelino Sican and still one unidentified.

Police Officer 1 Sarah Mae Andal of Candelaria Municipal Police Station was killed during the shootout while three others cops identified as PO1 January Mendoza, PO1 Junjun Villaflor and PO1 Jeffrey Ornales were wounded.

A bystander identified as Sebastian Manalo was also injured during the incident.

Arguelles, who sustained minor injuries, is a high-value target included in the drug list of Police Regional Office 4A. —NB, GMA News
