The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Boards (RTWPB) has raised the minimum daily salary in Soccsksargen, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Saturday.

Sisinio Cano, DOLE's regional director in Soccsksargen, said the RTWPB raised the workers' pay in the regional by P16 and P18.

Cano said those earning P270 per day will receive an increase of P18 per day or a total of P298 daily wage.

He said these workers in the agriculture, retail and service business sectors.

Workers in non-agriculture business with P295 daily salary will receive a hike of P16 per day or a total of P311 daily wage, he added.

Cano, meanwhile, said that the salary hike in the region will only be in effect upon the approval of DOLE's main office in Manila and after it was posted or published in a newspaper with a regional circulation.

“This is good news for our workers in the private workers.   We are just following what the national government under President Duterte wants us to do,” said Cano.

He said the regional labor office will make sure that employers will abide by the wage hike. —Malu Cadelina Manar/ALG, GMA News
