Cops nab suspect in Nueva Ecija massacre


Police have arrested the man who hacked to death his live-in partner and five others, including two children, in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija on Friday.

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Central Luzon Police regional director, identified the suspect as Jessie Tesoro.

Tesoro was arrested by policemen in Barangay Cutcut 1, Tarlac City, several hours after the massacre.

Corpus said he immediately ordered a manhunt against Tesoro after a surviving victim positively identified him as the attacker.

Tesoro allegedly killed his live-in partner Jennifer Cariaga, 24 and five others identified as Sergio Caballero, 29; Amy Caballero, 12; Joshua Caballero, 10; Leonila Caballero, 48; and a certain Sonny Custodio inside their rented apartment at Purok 6, Barangay Tambo Adorable, San Leonardo town around 4:30 a.m. Friday.

The witness, surviving victim Annalyn Caballero, sought the help of a neighbor, Corpus said. The 19-year-old survivor was in critical condition due to multiple stab wounds.

Police said that the children of Jennifer and Annalyn, who are aged 5 and 1, were unharmed and have been turned over to their relatives.

Investigators said that the night before the massac,re Jennifer and Tesoro had an argument. The suspect had allegedly been drinking in the afternoon until the evening before the incident.

Tesoro is now in the custody of the San Leonardo Police and is facing facing charges for multiple murder and frustrated murder. —Margaret Claire Layug/ALG, GMA News
