Dagupan City in Pangasinan placed under state of calamity


Dagupan City in Pangasinan has been placed under a state of calamity Saturday before noon due to heavy flooding caused by rainwater and high tide.

As of 9 a.m. the following barangays were already flooded, according to Ron Castillo, research and planning officer of the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB:

  • Bacayao Sur
  • Barangay I, II,III, and IV
  • Bolosan
  • Bonuan Binloc
  • Bonuan Boquig
  • Bonuan Gueset
  • Calmay
  • Carael
  • Caranglaan
  • Herrero Perez
  • Lasip Chico
  • Lasip Grande
  • Lomboy
  • Lucao
  • Malued
  • Mamalingling
  • Mangin
  • Mayombo
  • Pantal
  • Poblacion West
  • Pogo Chico
  • Pogo Grande
  • Pugaro
  • Salapiñgao
  • Salisay
  • Tambak
  • Tapuac
  • Tebeng

Residents were already rescued and brought to evacuation centers.

No casualties were reported.

Castillo said the flooding in Dagupan started Thursday evening and continued up until Saturday.

The livelihood of the residents were also affected.

He said relief assistance will be delivered from the regional and national offices.

Other areas

Aside from Dagupan, Calasiao and Santa Barbara in Pangasinan are also being monitored due to the overflow of water from the Marusay River, which reached the critical level of 10 feet.

Castillo said the situation in the municipality of Mabini is being monitored as well as the water level in the river is at critical condition.

The Camiling - Bayambang Road is not passable to all types of vehicles, while the Urdaneta-Santa Barbara Road is not passable to light vehicles, Castillo said.

In an earlier Super Radyo dzBB interview, Castillo said that as of 10 a.m. Pangasinan experienced moderate to heavy rains which started in the evening.

The municipalities of Calasiao, Dagupan, Santa Barbara, San Fabian, Mangatarem, Mabini, Aguilar and Labrador are also experiencing flooding.
