Cargo vessel runs aground off Legazpi City amid monsoon rains

A cargo vessel ran aground at noon Sunday, just 100 meters from the shores of a coastal barangay in Legazpi City in Albay province.

Super Radyo dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported that MV Jerlyn Lily strayed into shallow waters and got stuck in a reef area off Legazpi City's Barangay Arimbay.

Citing information from Philippine Coast Guard Commander Armand Balilo, the report said coastguard authorities are still investigating the cause of the cargo vessel incident.

Albay province has been affected by bad weather condition from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Storm Karding that exited Saturday from the Philippine area of responsibility, but has continued to influence the country's weather condition. —LBG, GMA News
