School official calls students ‘stupid,’ burns their bags

Several students were apparently made to stand by and watch their belongings get torched at Bicol Central Academy in Libmanan, Camarines Sur for supposedly violating a "no bag" policy for a certain event.

In a cellphone video shown in a 24 Oras report by Katrina Son on Sunday, senior high school students could be seen standing next to burning items while a man shouted angrily at them, "Stupid pala kayo eh!"

According to the report, the students had been ordered to fall in line near where their bags were set on fire. Photos provided by the video uploader showed that cellphones and laptops were among the destroyed items.

The Department of Education has vowed to investigate the incident.

"Sumulat na po 'yung ating superintendent to the school administrator ng Bicol Central Academy, asking them within three days to explain the incident. After po nun, magkakaroon po tayo ng fact-finding investigation," said DepEd Undersecretary Analyn Sevilla.
