Oil spill hits waters off Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro


Big waves spawned by enhanced Southwest Monsoon lashed at an oil tanker off Oreintal Mindoro, causing an oil spill in the area.  

A report on "State of the Nation" with Jessica Soho Friday evening said the incident occurred at about 6 a.m. Friday off Pinamalayan town in Oriental Mindoro at about 6 a.m., when big waves breached the hall of the vessel.

The Philippine Coast Guard immediately dispatched a team to stop the oil spill, deploying booms  to contain it. —LBG, GMA News
