Typhoon Ompong's powerful winds lash Basco

Winds were picking up in Basco, Batanes late Friday night, as Typhoon Ompong (international name Mangkhut) was about to make landfall over Cagayan province.

Weather service PAGASA had raised Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 3 over the Batanes, with 121-170 kilometer per hour winds were expected over the province. — DVM, GMA News
