Dog buried beside victim in Itogon landslide

At least three bodies were retrieved from the landslide site in Itogon, Benguet on Wendesday, Mariz Umali reported on 24 Oras.

The emergency responders also found a dog buried among the victims.

Umali reported that the rescuers said the dog may have stayed with its owner despite the stormy weather.

It was the fourth day of search, rescue and retrieval operations since a landslide buried the bunkhouse that served as shelter for small scale miners and their families in the wake of Typhoon Ompong over the weekend.

Bodies discovered on Wednesday brought the death toll up to 22. 

As of the report, workers have resorted to using bare hands to do their work. It would be a great help for the responders if heavy equipment would be brought to the area so they could work faster.
