A report Thursday on GMA News’ “Unang Balita” noted there have been growing enthusiasm about developing an industry devoted to violet chilis amid soaring prices of “siling labuyo” or red chili peppers in the country.

Experts claim that these eye-catching violet chilis contain medicinal components too.

Its spiciness, however, is milder compared to the red ones. That’s why the latter is almost always preferred by those who are up for spicy-hot flavors.

Studies on cultivating violet chilis in the country are still being conducted as taking care of these is more complicated compared to the red variety.
