Cargo vessel bound for Boracay sinks off Aklan —PCG


A cargo vessel bound for Barangay  Manok-Manok on Boracay Island resort sank off Malay, Aklan on Sunday.

Quoting Commander Armand Balilo, GMA News' Mark Makalalad reported  on Super Radyo dzBB that the Philippine Coast Guard (received a report that a cargo vessel was spotted sinking at about 10:25 a.m.

All of the vessel's 12 crew members were rescued, the PCG said, adding that ro-ro type cargo ship loaded with sand and gravel began taking in water off Barangay Caticlan.

An investigation into the cause of the sinking is ongoing, even as PCG personnel are monitoring the area for possible oil spill from the incident. —Dona Magsino/LBG, GMA News
