Cagayan village chair, watchman shot dead - report


The police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) are looking into the murder of a village chairman and watchman in Tuao town in Cagayan province Sunday night. Radio dzRH reported that investigators suspect politics to be behind the murder of the victims, initially identified as Ronaldo Cedano and Jonah Sumawan. The report said Cedano was chairman of Fugu village in Tuao, Cagayan. Initial investigation showed the two victims were buying cellphone load credits from a store in the village when a lone assailant arrived on board a motorcycle. The assailant then fired at the two, killing them instantly. Policemen recovered 11 shells from an M-16 rifle at the crime scene. Tuao is a third-class town with a population of 53,536 people in 10,390 households. - GMANews.TV
