INTERACTIVE: The wealth in the House of Reps as seen in 2012 SALNs

Since the ouster of former Chief Justice Renato Corona last year, the public has become more keenly aware of how public officials disclose and hide their wealth.

Now nearly a household word is an important bureaucratic tool for keeping officials honest – the SALN, or the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.

 

According to the recently released 2012 SALNs of the House of Representatives, the wealthiest is still Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, whose net worth ballooned by more than P400 million.

Following him in growth in net worth is Las Piñas Rep. Mark Villar, son of Senator Manny Villar and Senator-elect Cynthia Villar, with a net worth increase of P200 million.

 

Despite some P10 million in new liabilities, former first lady and Ilocos Norte 2nd district Rep. Imelda Marcos is still the second richest legislator in the lower house with some P922 million in net worth.
