MANILA – Umaasa si Department of Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes na magpapatuloy ang pagbagsak ng presyo ng krudo sa pandaigdigang pamilihan upang bumaba rin ang presyo ng langis sa Pilipinas. "We are seeing a softening in the world…prices…of imported oil…for the past seven to 10 days already. Right now the prices of imported landed gasoline and diesel (are) lower than the pump prices, and this is a welcome development," pahayag ni Reyes sa European Conference for Biolfuels sa Pasay City nitong Miyerkules. "If the trend continues, then there should be pressure for prices to come down and we should watch in the next two weeks or so," idinagdag niya. Sinabi ni Reyes na posibleng dahilan sa pagbaba sa presyo ng langis sa world market ang, “international demand-supply and political developments, particularly the diminished demand for petroleum products in the US." "(Because the) prices (were) a bit high, they… shifted into conservation mode. So the inventories in the US have actually increased, which puts pressure on prices to come down. There has been slight improvement in the political tension in the US, so all of these combined brought pressure on prices to come down," paliwanag niya. Sinuportahan naman ni Edgar Chua, manager ng Pilipinas Shell, ang pahayag ni Reyes. “We are in full agreement with the statement of the Secretary that if the trend continues there will be pressure on pricing." Ngunit hindi umano kaagad bababa ang presyo ng langis sa Pilipinas kahit bumagsak na ang presyo ng krudo sa world market. “We are now seeing $122 per bbl to $123 per bbl (but) that has only been happening in the last few days. (While) people expect (to) see that immediately at the pump, what the Secretary said (was) that if prices continue to soften, then in a few weeks time that's when we (should) expect a reflection of (the decrease in oil prices) in the market," ayon kay Chua. - GMANews.TV
