Husband’s penis cut off, thrown in garbage disposal

Southern Californian Catherine Kieu Becker could be the sort of woman William Congreve had in mind when he wrote "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." News website HuffPost reported on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) that the 48 year-old Becker is accused of cutting off her estranged husband's penis. Before allegedly tying the man to their bed, Becker reportedly fed her husband a poisoned dish. She may not have served it cold, but it was filled with vengeance. "The suspect called 911 and told responding officers that he ‘deserved it’," Lt. Jeff Nightengale told the news crew of NBC Los Angeles. Nightengale said the crime occurred at the victim's home on Monday night (Tuesday morning, Manila time). NBC LA reported that the man was found tied to a bed and bleeding from his groin area. According to investigators, Becker waited for her husband to fall asleep, then tied him to the bed. When he awoke, she cut his penis off with a 10-inch kitchen knife, then threw it in the garbage disposal. Nightengale told HuffPost that pieces of the severed member were recovered from the crime scene and brought to the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange County, where the victim is now in stable condition. No details were given on how the surgery went. KTLA News reported that on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) Becker appeared in court to answer charges of felony torture and aggravated mayhem. She did not enter a plea and so her arraignment was rescheduled for July 22. If convicted on all counts, including great bodily injury and personal use of a knife, she may spend the rest of her life in prison. KTLA News said her 60 year-old husband is “in good spirits" despite his ordeal.
