Love in the eyes of a child: 10 love lessons from kids

A few days ago, Wagas asked kids to answer the staple slumbook question “What is love?” The results were, as expected, very interesting.

Whether you’re happily in love, never been in love, hoping to be in love, or just plain cynical about it, let these kids give you a piece of their innocent minds (or hearts, maybe?).

“Love is my mommy and daddy.” -Eduard, 5

Dear Future Kids, one day you will also write this down…

“Love is liking your parents.” -Gab, 9

… or, you know, this one. You’re stuck with us anyway.

“Love is making someone else happy even if it doesn’t make you happy.” -Lee, 10

There are loads of insights from this kid’s answer. But the most surprising one is this selfless take on what loving someone means. And he even caps it off with a cute statement: “Love is, like, if you’re happy [then] I’m happy.” Adorable!

“Love is a relationship with one another.” -Ethan, 8

Pretty basic stuff ---but with a slight jab at your commitment issues!

“Love is, for example, you are dating and you fell in love. Love is when you kiss but love is from the heart.” -Jhie, 9

Now you know why people say you shouldn’t kiss on the first date.

“Love is where you can give flowers and chocolates.” -Jabez, 10

Note to suitors: flowers and chocolates will never go out of style.

“Love is from the heart, not from the brain.” -Raven, 9

Now you have a reason for all the illogical decisions you made, starting with the very first: you fell in love with (insert lover's name here). Hashtag heartbreak.

“Love is a compliment that happens everyday. Love is the most important thing in the world because it has everything you need.” -Inaki, 10

So don’t forget to tell your loved ones how good-looking they are ---apparently, it’s everything we ALL need.

“Love is forgiving others for their sin.” -Ken, 9

There goes the answer to the question: “Was that fight necessary?” It wasn’t.

And finally…

“Love is open to anyone and can be for everyone.” -Jian,  10

This kid took the cheesy “Love is an Open Door” duet to a whole new level of deep. Well said, child. Bless you.

Kids say the sweetest (and most realistic) things, don’t you think?
